Hua Hin still retains its traditions as a fishing township, and seafood is the great dining-out treat with fresh fish and shellfish coming in daily on the boats to Hua Hin Fishing Pier and Khao Takiab Fishing Village. Fresh seafood cooked the Thai way is one of the great dining experiences, and all over town there are restaurants that offer a fine menu. These can range from large outlets to little food stalls along the beachfront, in the sidestreets, or at the Night Market. Stay in Hua Hin long enough, and you will discover more ways to enjoy seafood than you would have thought possible, for the traditional Thai styles with dips and sauces, soups and curries, barbecues and stir-fries and steamed dishes are here alongside styles that have evolved from the large Chinese population. Many of the restaurants are found on Naresdamri Road, just south of the pier. For little local shops and stalls, the locals tend to head towards Phetkasem Road. There are numerous restaurants serving Western foods, some of them owned by German and Swiss expats who have settled in Hua Hin. Fine European-style dining is available from several quality independent restaurants, plus of course the luxury hotels. The hotel buffets offer a very attractive option in terms both of price and quality. There is an Indian community in the town, and consequently some excellent Indian restaurants. Japanese and Korean food is also popular. |
