Chinese New Year Period: February
Location: Cha-Am and Hua Hin Town Chinese New Year is a reunited time for family, friends and loved ones to get together, exchange gifts and join the big and extravagant meal. Thai-Chinese people in Thailand will celebrate the beginning of the Chinese lunar year at Chinatowns in the big cities throughout the country. The festivities including public performance of Chinese opera, cultural displays, fireworks and dragon dances parade will be held along the roads in Cha-Am and Hua Hin Towns.
International Kite Festival Period: March
Location: The King Rama IV Army Camp, Hua Hin With the wind off the Gulf of Thailand guaranteed, Hua Hin is the perfect place to host a kite festival. Stunt kites, big kites, small kites, traditional Thai kites and international displays will be presented. Individual and team competitions take place with contestants coming from as far a field as Canada, New Zealand, France, China, India and Singapore. It's a truly spectacular event, many nice selections of kite, souvenirs and other crafts can also be purchased during the festival.
Songkran Festival (Thai New Year Festival) Period: April
Location: Cha-Am and Hua Hin Town Songkran is a Thai traditional New Year which starts on April 13 every year. The point of the festival is to show respect to elders by sprinkling water over their hands. The festival has evolved somewhat and everywhere turns into an all-out water fight. Songkran can be celebrated for a number of days, strictly speaking it's for three, but you'll find that the water throwing in Hua Hin is restricted to one, on the 13th April only. However, do not assume that you won't be ambushed on the 14th and 15th, although you should be safe in the center of town.
Hua Hin Jazz Festival Period: First week of June
Location: Hua Hin Beach One of the most popular music festivals in Thailand. Jazz enthusiasts from all over Thailand arrive in town to take in a variety of international artists and bands that play in various local venues over a three day period. The shows are completely free and the festival is successfully attractive. More than 10,000 local and overseas visitors are expected to turn up for the special summer Jazz Festival, which is being organized by the Hua Hin Hotelier’s Club in conjunction with other main supporters such as the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Hua Hin Municipality and Hua Hin and Cha-Am Tourism Association.
Hua Hin and Cha-Am Golf Festival Period: August
Location: Golf Courses around Cha-Am and Hua Hin Hua Hin and Cha-Am are regarded as one of the best golfing locations in Thailand. There are 7 world class golf courses in the areas, all within a 30-minute drive from the town center. Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in conjunction with Hua Hin and Cha-Am Tourism Business Association and Hua Hin and Cha-Am Golf Course Club organize Hua Hin and Cha-Am Golf Festival in August of every year. With high stakes and great prizes, this competition attracts golfers from all over the country to participate in.
Hua Hin Regatta Period: August
Location: Hua Hin Beach A popular sailing event, taking place in picturesque Hua Hin in the Gulf of Thailand, a great location for sailing. This annual regatta attracts upwards of 300 competitors each year who come to try and win trophies that are awarded for the various different classes of boats. And so there's bound to be some top class entertainment for boat lovers.
Fish-Flock-Shellfish Festival Period: September
Location: Viewing Terrace, Cha-Am Beach The festival promises to be a seafood lover’s delight, with a range of beachfront food stalls offering a wide selection of delicious dishes, a variety of fresh seafood, shellfish, fish, crab, squid and much more. Those are prepared by chefs from more than 50 leading hotels and restaurants in Cha-Am. You might also enjoy catching your own fresh squid in the dark. For the adventure seeker, a squid-fishing trip is one of the festival highlights. Moreover, you can join bird watching expeditions to various sites within 10 - 15 km of Cha-Am Beach.
Loy Krathong Festival Period: November
Location: Cha-Am and Hua Hin Beach Loy Krathong (Full Moon Festival) is a very special Thai ceremony in November. Everybody float banana-leaf (Krathong) boats bearing flowers, incense, a candle, and a coin into the lakes and rivers throughout the nation. This result in probably the most beautiful sight you can ever see in Asia or maybe in the World! Many believe their “sins” of the past are floated away. People can make their own Krathong, and float it on the pool or the sea so as not to miss out on any luck!
International Bike Week Period: December
Location: Hua Hin Town This yearly gathering of Thailand's motorbike fraternity, both Thai and foreign, attracts machines and enthusiasts of every shape and variety. As well as bringing together so many types of motorbike, the event also includes competitions, displays, accessory and souvenir sales and giveaways.
Hua Hin Food Festival Period: December
Location: Queen Royal Park Hua Hin Hua Hin Food Festival is one of the most popular activities for locals and tourists to enjoy the variety of a thousand kinds of food and beverage. The festival will gives visitors a chance to sample some of the exquisite cuisines available in the region including, arguably, some of the finest seafood in the world. This annual event gives local chefs and hoteliers a chance to show off their culinary skills.
Hua Hin Vintage Car Parade Period: December
Location: Sofitel Centara Grand Resort & Villas, Hua Hin A very unique and exciting experience to see the event of the Vintage Car Festival. Hua Hin Hoteliers, the Vintage Car Club of Thailand, and the Tourist Authority of Thailand annually sponsor a 'parade' of vintage and classic cars from Bangkok to Hua Hin. The cars, with drivers and passengers decked out in 1920's attire, make the 225-km promenade in December of every year. |
